About

Hi my name is Samantha Morden. I always loved art because I could express myself and show people how I saw things. I also like to paint what I want things to look like.

I am eleven years old and live in St. Augustine Florida. I am in the fifth grade. I attend school at The Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, as I am legally blind.

I can see colors. I can see details if I hold items up to my left eye. I cannot see out of my right eye. Every little thing has its own distinct color if you look closely. But if I look at things from far away they look like one big solid color.

I like to paint with very vibrant colors because I think it’s more interesting. It’s fun to mix colors together and find a perfect color because I know I could paint the sky green if I wanted to…

Hobbies

Reading!

I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan! Most nights you will find me under my blankets with a flashlight just finishing that last chapter. (Shhh…don’t tell my parents)

Acting!

I have also been acting at a children’s playhouse since I was seven. I am in Musical Theatre at my school. I just played the part of Lucy in “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”

Singing!

I have been selected to be in chorus since second grade. I just got my first solo in a show! Yeah me!

Swimming!

In Delray Beach I was on the Aqua Crest Swim Team since I was seven. The team boosted athletes that went on to the Olympics. Here I swim with the Cyclones. I start all my races in the pool as my doctor doesn’t want me diving. Next year I may swim for my school FSDB, as you have to be in sixth grade.

School & Awards

I started taking watercolor classes when I was seven years old. I continued to take classes with different teachers (but always in watercolor) at Old School Square. At the end of the classes they had a showing of all the students artwork. I won best in show for my self-portrait. I was really, really surprised when I won again in 2009.

I am currently selling my magnets at Simple Gestures an art gallery in St. Augustine, Florida.

Thank you for visiting my page. I hope my art makes you smile.

Love,

Samantha Morden
